The Cook Islands National Environment Service recognises the importance of the environment to the people of the Cook Islands. Our cultural identity is deeply rooted in our environment and it is a part of our heritage and legacy that must be passed on to future generations of Cook Islanders. The Landuse layer of Rarotonga was produced in 2009/2010 under the Sustainable Land Management (SLM) Project. This project was co-implemented by NES and MOIP.
The layer was produced by digitizing from satellite imagery and carrying out random checks on the field.
