The Cook Islands National Environment Service recognises the importance of the environment to the people of the Cook Islands. With careful nurturing, conservation and sound management we can achieve sustainable development while protecting our environmental, social and cultural heritage.

The Ministry of Marine Resources (MMR) is responsible for the conservation, management and development of marine resources.

Established in 1984, the Ministry's objective is to ensure the sustainable
use of living and non-living marine resources for the benefit of the people of the Cook Islands.
