The Landuse layer of Rarotonga was produced in 2009/2010 under the Sustainable Land Management (SLM) Project. This project was co-implemented by NES and MOIP.
The layer was produced by digitizing from satellite imagery and carrying out random checks on the field.

The Rarotonga Flycatcher or Kakerori (Pomarea dimidiata) is a small (19-23g) forest-dwelling bird endemic to Rarotonga in the Cook Islands, where it is found mainly in the moister south-eastern section of that island, particularly in what is now the 155haTakitumu Conservation Area (TCA).
